We are building the landmark ninepin bowling centre the world has been waiting for — and we want YOU to help shape it.
Project Kegel is not just another bowling hall. It is the first fully transparent, open-source blueprint for a modern, sustainable, 6-lane ninepin sports centre that anyone, anywhere can copy and build. The first centre is founder-led (Bostjan Pen, 25+ years as player, coach and promoter) with majority ownership to guarantee speed and protect against fraud, but every single decision, drawing, budget line and lesson will be public on Open Collective, GitHub and Discord.
The Advisory Board is the heart of this community-driven approach. We need the collective intelligence of the global ninepin family to make this centre the best possible version — and the perfect template for every future replica.
Who we are looking for
We especially welcome active members of the ninepin community who bring real knowledge and passion:
Ninepin experts
- Current or former top players, national team members, world-championship participants
- Coaches, club captains, league organisers and tournament directors
- Club owners and operators who understand daily lane maintenance, event hosting, pricing and member retention
Professional expertise that directly impacts the project
- Architects, civil engineers and interior designers experienced in sports facilities
- Construction and real-estate professionals (permits, budgeting, contractor selection)
- Sustainability / green-building specialists (heat pumps, solar, energy efficiency)
- Finance, crowdfunding and grant experts
- Marketing & community-building professionals (especially those who know how to reach ninepin players across Europe)
- Lawyers or non-profit governance experts (we will set up a spolek/foundation)
- Accessibility and inclusivity specialists
- Suppliers or technicians familiar with modern string pinsetter systems (Funk-style or equivalent)
You do not need to be an expert in everything — one strong area is enough. Even if you “only” bring deep ninepin knowledge and passion, your voice is extremely valuable.
What the role actually looks like (realistic commitment)
- Time: 2–4 hours per month on average (flexible)
- Activities: occasional Discord discussions, 1-hour Zoom calls every 6–8 weeks, review of plans/budgets via Google Docs, giving feedback on design, operations, marketing or sustainability ideas
- Influence: Your input will directly shape the final blueprint that thousands of clubs worldwide will use
- Duration: Open-ended — stay as long as you want, step away anytime
- All meetings and documents are public (full transparency)

Founder note: I keep final veto on core vision and major financial decisions to protect the project and my reputation after 25+ years in ninepin, but every veto will come with full public explanation. This is still the most open and community-shaped ninepin project ever attempted.
